William Penhaligon's perfumes
The story begins with our founder, William Penhaligon. A humble barber from Cornwall who ascended to the royal court and cut the Shah of Persia's beard. William's first perfume was Hammam Bouquet, inspired by the Turkish baths where he was resident barber, cutting the tresses of Mayfair's bright young creatures. The fragrance was exotic. It was exciting. It caused a lot of stir. The brilliant young creatures demanded more. William, of course, obliged. Fortunately, it was not a meteor. A string of fabulous fragrances followed, catapulting this barber and businessman to the top of British Society. But William's most remarkable blend was something else: a company that would build on his legacy. Today, Penhaligon's is perhaps the most highly regarded perfume house in the world. We hold two Royal Warrants and offer a dizzying array of unusual and electrifying scents to those with discerning noses, whether royalty or not. We think William would be quite pleased with how things turned out.

A fragrance of a few words but well chosen. Wood and leather, strong but thin, wrapped in vanilla and sesame milk.
With smoked hints, rum and leather, softened by vanilla and sesame milk, Mr Thompson is reassuring on every occasion, but also a master in the art of espionage. As for what the butler has seen ... well, never forget, but it is always discreet. All the best butlers keep your secrets ...
