Description

Vanilla comes from Mexico where the Aztecs used it to soften the bitterness of the chocolate. There have been numerous European attempts to cultivate pods outside their original cradle. Louis XIV fell in love with it and wanted to cultivate him on the island Bourbon, in the meeting. But all the attempts under his kingdom failed. Nobody knew how to fertilize vanilla outside his native area. The Europeans did not know that the Mexican Ape Melipona was responsible for pollination. Thanks to it, in fact, the orchid provides a long green fruit commonly called vanilla pod.
