A cactus in bloom gives the tone to this raw and glamorous interpretation of the dark side of the vanilla.
Fresh and clear like the air of the desert illuminated by the moon. Velvety and sensual like midnight sky. Cierge de Lune is inspired by the scent of the mysterious cactus cereus who blooms at night, also known as the queen of the night.
The French call Cereus Cierge de Lune, "Candle of the altar of the Moon", literal translation of the Latin Selenicereus Grandiflorus. Since his spectacular flower opens only after sunset and wins the sunrise, it is said that Maria Antonietta summoned the botanical artist Pierre-Joseph Redouté to midnight to capture the touching and fleeting beauty of the cactus species of the new world. Today, the co-founder of Aedes de Venustas Karl Bradl and the perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin capture the sweet scent of this elusive and evocative muse.
Cierge de Lune embraces an exciting range, from high crystallines to deep night molts of spiced vanilla intertwined with tufts of incense. For his first collaboration with Aedes de Venustas in 2016, Pellegrin drawn from a rich portfolio. "Our absolute of Madagascar vanilla is the most faithful ingredient to nature," he explains. More woody and amber than its Tahitian counterpart, with a shade of fawn leather, this vanilla constitutes the heart of the composition, revealing a darker side. An airy whisk by Hedione transmits the delicious pod in a cactus flower, whose uncontaminated petals are enriched with Ylang-Ylang.
To add liveliness and brightness, the sparkling pink pepper launches lunar light flashes in the velvety mixture, while black pepper traces an intriguing thread, with mineral effects, similar to incense - a nod to the olfactory theme of the Aedes de Venustas line - to those to those Resinous, smoked and dark chocolate notes. Then, in a final metamorphosis, the musk Ambrox, underlined by a soft suede agreement, transforms night flowering into a second dark skin.
Aedes de Venustas Cierge de Lune has now been carefully transferred to a new precious ship: a grooved glass bottle characterized by peacock accents, a matte black cap with printed coats of arms and an elegant but heavy design that marks the next chapter of the Aedes collection De History of Venusta.
Cierge de Lune accompanies you on an olfactory journey deep in the desert. A rare and royal flowering reinterpreted for your skin.
