Molecule 03 is a tribute to the vetural acetate, a hybrid of natural root + synthetic, in two different fragrances.
The vetural acetate can be described as a hybrid molecule, half a natural and half synthetic. It is a fraction of vetiver oil, distilled from the roots of an Indian grass, which is then "crossed" with acetic acid to eliminate the bitter and leather notes of the root.
The result is an elegant and refined molecule with the woody, slightly herbaceous character of the Vetiver, but much softer and velvety.
"Acetylation also brings out the vetural grapefruit touch," says Geza Schoen, "making the head note more distinctly bitter and fresh".
