The Chaco is the second largest primary forest in Latin America, known as the "impenetrable" forest for its incredibly dense formation.
This forest is the only source of Guaiaco wood, locally known as "Palo Santo". This region is also known to perfumers as a source of petitgrain essential oil, natural extracts of Maté leaves and as an important citrus cultivation area.
