Café Tabac - An hedonistic perfume that celebrates the not documented moment.
A sumptuous party that goes on for days. Infinite dinners and dancing merengue all night under a coal sky. Smoking meets the flower and spices are deposited for subsequent inhalation. This is Cafe Tabac.
Before the new perfume of Aedes de Venustas was made in a bottle, he had a name: Cafe Tabac, inspired by the iconic bar of the 90s in the East Village. On the top floor, at Cafe Tabac, Kate met Johnny, Madonna took the phone, Leo met the supermodels. It was a place where those who were truly glamorous could be truly out of service, a casual, pre-cellular era, which seems so far as to be desired again.
"It is the deep atmosphere of a place to stay, which creates its legend," says the perfume Bertrand Duchaufour. “Intense blue smoke of cigarettes, cigars, grass ... whatever. We are exploring other paradises: laughter, desires and pleasures, still and again.
This spirit was also present when Duchaufour and Gerstner visited the Dominican Republic last year for another fragrant project. "It was an explosion of lively and chic people from Mexico, France, Rio, New York; Cultures, conversations, different ideas and opinions, "says Gerstner. "We went together from a tropical forest to the coast, but it was only when we found ourselves in a cigar factory that I looked at Bertrand and said: 'Can you put it in a bottle?'"
The result is dazzling, sexy and complex like the journey: it opens with sparkling notes of expected (bergamot) and unexpected (apple, tamarind) fruits, but the overall perfume is a tribute to tobacco in many forms. Dry leaves, humid flowers and a cigar lit by the fire are represented thanks to the herbs of sage sclarea and Davana, a shade of mango with dry fig and dating and a rough smokyness using absolute tobacco, tar, falls and cedar wood. An amber agreement of secretions and sugars of Cisto and Labano, gray amber, oak musk, vanilla, cocoa and balm of Peru in the heart give way to a cupically rich and resinous base. There is no sugar here. Instead, the characteristic burnt sugar, fresh cloves and cardamom are infused with vapors that maintain multilayer cafe tabac instead of perfectly round. It is mixed with a concentration of twenty percent, made in the style of the high perfumery of the old school, including a maceration of one month in France.
With Cafe Tabac, there is a crazy sensuality that seems the olfactory equivalent of a touch of orange on an espresso cup, full of a touch of freshness and flavor. Wearing it means maintaining a state of intense emotions that are remembered first of what they are recorded.
